Blackmer Introduces FKM Elastomer
Option
For Piston Air Valve On TXD2.5 Transport Pump

for use on biofuels transport trucks

Rapids, MI Blackmer, the
global leader in positive displacement rotary vane pump
technologies, announces that its TXD2.5A-AVB Sliding
Vane Pumps are now available with a new FKM U-Cup O-ring
option on the Piston Air Valve. The FKM option is recommended
by Blackmer's engineering department for use on transfer
pumps used in biofuel—ethanol and biodiesel—applications.
Blackmer introduced the Piston Air Valve for TXD2.5
pumps in February 2006 to replace the double diaphragm
style air valve. The petroleum market has accepted the
new Piston Air Valve design but as the use of biodiesel
and ethanol fuels continue to grow, and the traditional
Buna elastomers do not fully meet the market requirements,
the option of FKM elastomers will allow for increased
compatibility with these fuels. The Piston Air Valve
with the FKM option is manufactured exactly the same
as the original Piston Air Valve. The only change is
the FKM U-Cup O-rings, to allow a broader range of chemical
compatibility. Blackmer will continue to offer the Piston
Air Valve with Buna elastomers for traditional petroleum
applications. The Piston Air Valve kits are completely
interchangeable with the current diaphragm air valve
kits. The kits bolt directly to the TXD relief valve
or TXD2.5A-AVB pumps may be factory ordered with the
new FKM option.
Blackmer’s TX/TXD Series of sliding
vane pumps has been called the workhorse of the company’s
mobile/transport offering, with the capability to handle
clean, lubricating fluids for petroleum products ranging
from fuel oil, diesel, kerosene, gasoline, avgas, jet
fuel and light oils. This pump is used most often in
truck applications and has many different options that
make the pump as versatile as possible to handle the
diversity of fluids encountered by fleet tank trucks.
TX/TXD Series pumps are available with port sizes from
1.5 to 4 inches, flow rates from 10 to 500 gpm and relief
valve pressures to 125 psi.
